A multi-instrumentalist and singer raised alongside Maine rivers and mountains, Ezra has worked professionally in music for over a decade, performing and teaching in Dallas, St. Louis, and now Boston.
A neurobiology PhD student at Boston University, Ezra studies the neuropharmacology of psychedelics with hopes of developing effective therapies for anxiety and depression. Settling into a rigorous academic lifestyle gave rise to a two year search for a new creative outlet ultimately resulting in EZZY, a collective of indie rock musicians dedicated to a smooth style drawing from neo soul, folk, and rnb.
Ezra has studied music his entire life: classical voice at the Portland Conservatory of Music, voice, jazz piano and music theory at the University of Southern Maine, composition at Lindenwood University, and arranging at the University of Missouri - St. Louis.
In addition to performing and writing, Ezra embraces teaching opportunities in several forms, having taught piano, guitar, and voice at Guitar Center for 8 years. He’s tutored STEM subjects from organic chemistry to microbiology and taught the systems physiology lab at Boston University.
Ezra is pleased to share that he has recently been hired at Berklee College of Music in the Liberal Arts and Sciences department as Professor of Anatomy and Physiology, where he’s excited to share his passion for science and do all he can to make scientific subjects accessible to all those interested, regardless of major or principle instrument.
